My Favorite Things...for Seniors :)

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

Maalox and nosedrops and needles for knittin',
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittin's,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

          Cadillacs, cataracts, hearing aids, glasses,
Polident, Fixodent, false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

          When the pipes leak,
          When the bones creak,
          When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets, and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food nor food cook'd with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin'.
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, when the hips break,
          When the eyes grow dim,
I simply remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

I SIMPLY REMEMBER THE GREAT LIFE I'VE HAD
AND THEN I DON'T FEEL SOOOO BAAAAD!

(My dad sent me this, made me laugh so I thought I'd share)

Start the Day with a Song!

I noticed that  the birds start their day with a song.  Music.  Praise to their Creator.  What an example for us!  I find so many times that I start my day with a mad dash for the bathroom and then spend the rest of the day zipping from task to task...
Maybe like the birds, I should start my day with a song....praise to my Creator....

Money or Love?

Would we do for money what we won't do for love?  This question was presented to me  yesterday and my first thought was NO.  But then it was presented this way:  What is a man offered you $1,000 for every soul you brought to Christ?  What if you were offered $100 for every visitor to church you brought?

I think we would make it our life work to spread the Gospel.  I think our churches would be packed.  I think that Christianity would spread like wildfire.

Why is it that, in my mind, I would do for money what I don't do enough of for love?

Spaghetti Cake

If you have a child who loves spaghetti, this is the cake for them.
You bake a regular chocolate cake...8 inch rounds work perfectly.
Frost the bottom layer normally.
Then you take yellow frosting and run it through a small tip to make "Spaghetti noodles".
Take the other chocolate layer and divide it into thirds.  Roll each third up into a "meatball".  Dust it with cocoa to make it more realistic.
I used strawberry jelly for the sauce.
Then I shaved white chocolate on top for the "parmesan cheese".

It was cute and delicious.

God Spoils Me Rotten

So...it is almost Spring in Louisiana and over the winter I lost a few pounds.  Well, like 17 pounds, but who's counting.  :)  Anyway, I was telling God this week that I need some new clothes, He needs to send the best stuff to Goodwill and the garage sales so I can find it.

Of course, He has to show me.  He's WAAAAAY better than that to His children.  I went to a friend's house today (Nycole) and she had some clothes given to her and wanted me to look through them to see if I could find anything.

WOW.  Brand new.  Still has the tags.  Designer suits.  AWESOME.  I came home with 8 new outfits.  NEW!  God ♥loves♥ us!  He delights to give us His best, if we only trust Him.

I just want to thank Him and also my friend Nycole for loving me and sharing with me their BEST,  ♥

Civics Lesson from a Democrat

Well, the esteemed Senator from New York, Chuck Schumer, decided the Republican party needed a lesson in government.  Here is his quote after The State of the Union address:

"So I would urge my Republican colleagues, no matter how strongly they feel -- you know, we have three branches of government. We have a House. We have a Senate. We have a president. And all three of us are going to have to come together and give some, but it is playing with fire to risk the shutting down of the government, just as it is playing with fire to risk not paying the debt ceiling."

Wow.  I had no idea that the United States did away with the Judicial Branch.  Anyone know when that happened?  Good grief, let Sarah Palin make such a gaffe and the news media would be all over it.  But since it was a democrat, the story is just a blip on the radar.

And this man was elected to office.  People...please be careful who you vote for.
